Nine dead Arakanese who were killed in the violent attack on 19th of June in Kutaung Village under Rathedaung Township in Arakan State were recovered in the early morning on Thursday, reported local residents and police sources.

locmap_KUDAUNGThe bodies were found by security forces including army in some compounds of the houses in Anaukpyin village on the night of Wednesday and early morning of Thursday after searching for bodies.

“There are nine dead bodies that have been recovered. Only bones were found for one body, because it was set on fire and another seven bodies are unrecognizable because they were hideously killed and we can recognize only two bodies”, said the resident.

He said the bodies were recovered from the Anaukpyin Muslim Village and brought back to Kutaung Village for their funerals.

“The bodies were brought back to Kutaung Village and their funerals were held yesterday”, he said.

The recovered dead bodies are identified as of Thandar Aung, Maung Aung Aung Tun, U Tin Hlaing (a retired military serviceman), U Soe Than (a school teacher), U Prue Chay, Maung Kyaw Min Tun (an actor),  U Than Shwe, U Than Win and U Tun Baw.

Another dead body of U Thein Han (a retired school teacher) was found just after an attack on 19th of June.

Three peoples were seriously injured by gunshots during the attack and they are identified as U Kyaw Win, U Htay Chay and U Hla Thein Tun. U Kyaw Win is said to have been sent to the hospital in Sittwe while the remaining two are now being treated in the hospital in Rathedaung.

The situation in the area is calm after security forces were deployed to prevent untoward incidents between the two communities.
