A Bangladesh police team led by Nizar Mohmad seized 40,000 yaba tablets when they intercepted a microbus on the way Cox's Bazar from the border town of Teknaf, opposite the Burmese town Maungdaw.

The car driver managed to evade arrest by fleeing during the stop, but police discovered 20 packages of yaba tablets worth about 20 million Taka in the vehicle.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh Special Force RAB, Rapid Action Battalion, seized 18,000 Yaba Tablets from a drug dealer in Capital Dhaka.

On 16 May, Bangladesh police also seized 134 pieces of yaba tablets and detained a private car for carrying the drugs in Teknaf. The car driver in that incident also managed to escape from police.

The Bangladesh Border Guard seized 897 yaba tablets from a passenger bus on 15 May, 2011, when the car was stopped at Don Don Mi checkpoint in Teknaf Township. Border guard forces also arrested a woman named Fatama Khaton, age 30, along with 297 yaba tablets from the same check port around 12 pm on 14 May, 2011, when the woman attempted to smuggle the drugs on her person.

According to local sources, all yaba tablets seized by Bangladesh authorities in these recent events had been brought from Burma by drug syndicates to sell wholesale in the markets of big cities in Bangladesh, like Dhaka and Chittagong.
