Two lawyers representing DVB woman reporter Hla Hla Win, serving a 27 year prison term, will submit their final arguments in her appeal case in the Magwe Divisional Court on April 5.
The divisional court admitted the revision case filed for the reporter on March 22 and fixed the date for argument on April 5. The application for the revision case was submitted to the court on March 8.
“The court fixed April 5 for the final hearing. Swe Hla and I are representing her,” one of her defence lawyers Myint Thwin told Mizzima.
The Magwe Division, Pakokku District court charged the Norway based Democratic Voice of Burma (DVB) reporter Hla Hla Win and co-accused Myint Naing in three cases under the Video Law and Electronic Law.
The Pakokku District Court in December last year sentenced Hla Hla Win to 20 years in prison in these three cases.
Moreover the Township court gave separate prison terms of seven years under section 5/1 of the (Export-Import Act) for riding an unlicensed motorcycle in October last year. The appeal has been filed for this case also by another lawyer but it is pending.
Hla Hla Win was arrested on September 11 last year after interviewing a monk.
Myint Naing was sentenced to total 32 years with an additional case under the Immigration Act.
