National land use policy expected to resolve disputes, says official
All disputes over land are expected to be resolved by a national land use policy the government plans to unveil next year, says the secretary of the Land Use Management Committee.
Dr Nyi Nyi Kyaw said the policy was being drafted as part of a coordinated effort by the relevant ministries and would address issues at the heart of land grab disputes.
The policy would classify land as arable, forest, industrial or urban, he said in Nay Pyi Taw on September 5.
Disputes often occur because of a lack of guiding policy principles, he told Mizzima.
