A vice-chairman of the Yangon branch of the Young Men's Buddhist Association has rejected allegations made by three former executive committee members of the organisation.
U Sein Than told Mizzima Daily on June 8 that the three had been dismissed from the organisation and "have nothing to do with us".
He had been asked to respond to allegations concerning the misappropriation of funds at the branch.
The allegations were made by U Than Lwin, U Myat Soe Hlaing and U Aye Myint, who identified themselves respectively as a former vice-chairman and executive committee members of the branch, at the Yangon offices of the Standard Time Daily earlier on June 8.
U Myat Soe Hlaing alleged that funds had been misused to buy cars and telephones.
"When I objected they ignored my protests," he said.
The YMBA was established in 1906 and has more than 10,000 members, said U Myat Soe Hlaing.
