Myanmar’s Minister of Tourism Htay Aung signed a letter of intent for the practice of smart tourism and a collaborative visa system along with fellow ASEAN nations at the World Economic Forum (WEF) on Wednesday.

“Today we show our national spirit and solidarity by signing this letter,” said the minister at the convention center in Myanmar’s administrative capital Naypyitaw. “We are on track to achieve our strategy and plans.”

He stressed the importance of connectivity in tourism and tourism across the borders and increase technology to speed up the visa process.

The Myanmar government hopes to triple tourism to three million visitors per year by 2015.
