Stephenson-Harwood-LLPStephenson Harwood LLP struck a year-long exclusive association with Myanmar firm U Tin Yu & Associates on May 8, making it the first UK firm to enter the domestic market.
The partnership is geared to advise clients on entering the country’s burgeoning mining sector, Tin Yu, U Tin Yu’s managing partner, told Mizzima on Friday.
Tin Yu said that a group of partners from Stephenson Harwood will visit Myanmar for the month of June to examine the new reforms in Myanmar’s mining law and expand the firm’s contacts with the Ministry of Mines in conjunction with U Tin Yu.
Stephenson Harwood employs some 400 attorneys worldwide and operates four other offices in Asia, including Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Shanghai, and Beijing. It has cooperations in Indonesia and Singapore.
U Tin Yu was founded in 1978 and comprises 10 lawyers. Its areas of practice include corporate and commercial law, litigation, real estate, IP, and employment.
