The judge scheduled another hearing for 2:30 p.m. on May 6.

Prosecutor Khaing Zar Aung and another state prosecutor who was scheduled to testify for the prosecution did not appear in the court, saying they were traveling at the time.

Staff from the Myanmar Times newspaper and local and foreign journalists attended the hearing.

Dunkley, who has been released on bail, has been charged under the Immigration Act and under criminal charges of assaulting a woman and holding her against her will. He spent more than a month in Insein Prison following his arrest.

After his release on bail, Dunkley resumed his duties as managing director of the English language newspaper in Rangoon.
