Rangoon (Mizzima) – The state-run newspaper New Light of Myanmar reported on Wednesday that authorities defused a hand-made bomb found on a seat near a bus stop in Kyauktada Township in Rangoon on Sunday, April 3.

The newspaper said that at around 11:40 a.m. a small explosion or fire occurred in material that included a bunch of flowers, a gas lighter and two paint cans.

When authorities arrived at the scene they discovered the bomb, which was defused.

The article said the bomb was made up of a Thai-made SIM card, a Nokia cell phone, two compressed air paint cans, 25 pounds of gunpowder, a lithium battery, a electric detonator with two wires and a 10-amp fuse.

Observers noted that a Thai SIM card can not work in Burma where GSM roaming service is not available.
