Chiang Mai (Mizzima) – On his return trip home after Parliament was dissolved, an Arakanese MP lost consciousness on a bus to Rangoon and he was taken to a hospital, according to an MP who was a passenger on the bus.
Maung Saw Phyu, 71, a member of the National Assembly of Rakhine Nationalities Development Party (RNDP), boarded the bus at 5 a.m. on Thursday to travel from Naypyidaw to Rangoon. When the bus neared Hlegu Township, he vomited and then lost consciousness and was taken to Waibargi Hospital in North Okkalapa Township in Rangoon, said his colleague.
One of his colleagues told Mizzima that Maung Saw Phyu woke up very early on Thursday morning and may have been tired. He said people massaged his chest to try to allow him to breath. He said he regained his breath after about 10 minutes.
Maung Saw Phyu represents Minbya Township Constituency 4 in Arakan State.
Similarly, last week, Tin Myint, a Union Solidarity and Development Party MP elected from Pegu Region Constituency No.3, fell ill during a session of the Upper House and was admitted to hospital in Naypyidaw.
