A 6.8 earthquake struck northeastern Burma on Thursday night, followed by a second quake one minute later.
The quake was 6.2 miles deep and located about 89 km northeast of Chiang Rai, Thailand, according to the US Geological Survey.
A 6.8 quake is capable of doing extensive damage to structures. The quake was felt in Bangkok, more than 600 km south of the epicenter.
