8 November 2010: The Chin National Party (CNP) in Hakha and Thantlang township, the USDP in Tiddim, and the Chin Progressive Party (CPP) in Falam, Paletwa, Kalemyo-Sagaing division and Tamu townships are said to be leading as counting of votes progresses in yesterday’s election in Burma.
“At the moment the Chin National Party is leading the race in Hakha and Thantlang townships, but it is hard to predict the result as ballot papers are on the way to be counted,” said Pu Zozam, CNP President.
In Hmun helh, Thantlang township, CNP has got 488 votes, USDP-192 votes and NUP-305. Incidentally, there were about 50 voters who did not cast votes in this village.
“We hope the Chin National Party will win in Thantlang constituency No. 2, but official results will not be available today,” said a border reporter of Khonumthung News.
Pu Zozam said that telephone lines have been cut in southern Chin state by the junta, so it has become difficult to update the counting trend in southern Chin state.
“We, in the Chin Progressive Party (CNP), are doing very well in Kalemyo, Tamu townships and Falam, Paletwa townships in Chin state,” said a CNP functionary.
Pu Nah Thang, a CPP candidate said that their party has won in three parliament seats in Falam township. The winning candidates are U Khuang Ling – People’s Parliament, U Con Kheng – National Parliament, U Zung Hlei Thang – National Parliament, U Nah Thang – State Parliament, U No Sun – State Parliament.
In Matupi town, the National Democratic Front (NDF) is ahead in Ngala block and USDP is leading in Sabawngte block. CPP is leading in Rizua sub-town and USDP in Lailenpi village.
The names of elected candidates in Tiddim town are:
U Pum Khan En ( USDP) – People’s Parliament, U Kham Suan Mung (USDP) and U Suan Do Cin ( USDP) - National Parliament, U Nang Za Mung (USDP) and U Zam Cin Pau (B) Zozam (CNP) - State Parliament.
The detailed results of elected candidates in Tiddim township are:-
USDP: People’s Parliament - Pa Pum Khan En (12,247)
National Parliament - Pa Kham Suan Mung (5,771) and Pa Suan Do Cin (6,038)
State Parliament - Pa Nang Za Mung(5,779) and Pa Hang Khan Khai (5,396)
NUP: People’s Parliament - Pa Vum Lian Thang (9074): National Parliament - Pa Khup Cin Pau (5,118) and Pa Thawng Sawm Pau (3,674)
State Parliament - Pa Thang Go Khai (4,686) and Pa Hau Za Dal (2,944)
CPP: People’s Parliament - Pa PS Kham Do Nang (2,250)
National Parliament - Pa Gin Heh Lian (1,207) and Pa SB Khan Zam Vungh(1,763)
State Parliament - Pa Thuam Go Thang (728) and Pa Gin Thang (2,185)

There are 177 polling stations and 43,749 voters in two constituencies in Tiddim township.
Local people believe that the advance voting system by the military government has not been reflected in the results of the election in Chin state.
