The Chin National Party (CNP) has urged Chin people to vote only for candidates who prioritize national interests in the ensuing general election on 7 November in Chin state.
CNP President Pu Zozam urged Chin people to make the correct choice through a television poll campaign on October 3.
He said that it is important to be aware and vote for the candidate, who is interested in national development.
He pointed out that voters need to check the history of candidates and his background before voting for him.
The CNP could present only four of its objectives and policies of 15 during the TV poll campaign this time.
The Union Election Commission rejected some portions of the party’s content related to the right to build churches in Chin State, the right to worship, the right to learn the Chin language in government primary schools in Chin State and the right to organize more Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) in Chin state.
The CNP will have 22 candidates in Chin state.
The party will be allowed to campaign on 21 October again on government controlled television.
