Mr. H.C. Thawnga a Chin has organized the first ‘Solo Wildlife Cartoon Exhibition’ at the Vanapa Hall in Aizawl city, capital of Mizoram in northeast India. The exhibition was inaugurated on December 16.
The exhibition will be open till December 19 and it is aimed at creating awareness regarding protection and prevention of environmental damage and destruction.
“As far as I know such an educational exhibition has not yet been organized in India. I could do it with the help of the Association for Environment Preservation (ASEP). The idea is to love nature and not harm nature and our environment,” said Mr. H.C. Thawnga.
ASEP is one of the associations that are working towards preserving the environment in Mizoram and Mr. H.C. Thawnga is acting as the vice president of the association.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Mr. Vanbela Pachuau, Chief Secretary of the Mizoram Government. He encouraged such educational cartoon exhibitions and said it is a good model to preserve our environment and wildlife. It should not stop here but be compiled into a book and published for students and the public and be made available in the market.
“It really hit the target! The simple art is copying the real thing, but for drawing cartoons it requires ideas. As it is the first solo cartoon exhibition in Mizoram, it should fetch good results for people of the state,” said the president of the Mizoram Academic of Fine Art.
There are at least 60 visitors per day and 145 paintings are being show cased at the Vanapa Hall.
