Burmese Army soldiers forcibly took away livestock belonging to locals in Rih town, northern Chin state, Burma in September and forced people to fence army camps. The areas are affected by the on going food crisis in Chin state.

Soldiers from the Light Infantry Battalion (268) took 20 chickens and two pigs from villagers in Sa Ek, Thangcang and Lianhna village in Rih town, Sub-town of Falam Township, locals in Rih town said.

The troops did not pay for the livestock they took, leaving villagers frustrated and angry.

"They took our livestock without paying for it. We suffered a huge loss," a villager from Sa Ek village said.

At current prices, a chicken is Kyat 5,000 and a pig is between Kyat 50000 – 100000.

Moreover, people from Rih were forced to fence army camps in Rih and Tibual village in September. 

In the same month, villagers from Tedim Township were also made to  fence army camps of the LIB (269) based in Tuithang and Kaptel villages in Tedim, according to locals from Tedim.
