The Mizoram drug eradication force yesterday arrested two Burmese nationals on charges of drug trafficking in Mizoram state, northeast India .
Supply Reduction Service (SRS) and Exercise and Narcotic forces raided a rented house belonging to Lalsangliana (30) located in Chanmari ward in Aizawl, capital of Mizoram state on Wednesday at around 7 pm and seized around 60 grams of opium. Lalsangliana was arrested.
The seized opium is worth over Rs. 180,000 at current prices.
However, another Burmese called Thanchuanga (35) today confessed to Exercise and Narcotic officers that the seized opium belonged to him, according to 'Evening Post', a local newspaper in Mizoram.
The police later detained both and charged them in a drug trafficking case.
Both arrested Burmese nationals are from Kalay Township in Sagaing division of Burma .
The current price of opium in the black market in Mizoram is around Rs. 40,000 for15 grams.
