The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) director general recently told journalists that Nasaka (Burma border security force) is unwilling to sit down and discuss matters of mutual interest.

“BGB is facing difficulties to hold talks with Nasaka to resolve cross-border disputes,” said BGB Director General Major General Aziz Ahmed after serving 6 months in office.

On March 13, Nasaka arrested 4 Bangladeshi nationals, 3 included policemen from Gumdum border point of Naikongchhari Upazila in Bandarban, Bangladesh. Nasaka wouldn’t meet with BGB personnel to find a solution, according to different sources from border. Nasaka only thinks about ways to extort money from locals.

“If the BGB sends a letter regarding an important matter Nasaka doesn’t immediately respond,” Aziz Ahmed said.
