The United Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) of Than Tlang Township, Chin state Burma at a meeting took a resolution that India’s funds for Chin state will be spent by the party.
The meeting was held in Than Tlang town between 19 and 20 August with over hundred party members led by Captain Aung Min, Secretary of Chin state USDP participating.
“India providing funds was discussed as the main issue and the meeting passed a resolution to spend on small projects. The meeting also passed a resolution to manage India’s social project for Chin state by the USDP,” said a participant at the meeting.
The meeting’s organizing committee announced before the start of the meeting to party members, not to raise questions at the meeting.
Livestock, agriculture and other small detailed project plans will be prepared by Chin state USDP party for application to the Chin state government.
“The USDP authorities did not mention whether the Indian government had already handed over its funds to the Chin state government. We really don’t know how much will be provided for each township in the state,” said a USDP committee member.
The Indian government provided US $ 6 million for health, education and social work in Chin state recently. India will provide another US $ 2 million for road construction.
The Chin state USDP authorities told the Than Tlang local authorities to identify projects through the township administrator.
The township USDP was formed with 15 Than Tlang township central executive members, five members for the advisory board and six for its office staff.
