The truck carrying the people, coming from Kalemyo, Sagaing division met with an accident in Laitui village, Teddim township of Chin state around 1 p.m. local standard time.

Mangpu and another person from Heilei Village of Teddim Township were killed on the spot and 11 of the 15 passengers in the truck were injured, said a trader from Chin state.

“It was raining heavily at that time and the road was slippery. The driver lost control leading to the accident. Only two people escaped without injuries,” said a trader.

It learnt that some of the injured were admitted to Teddim town civil hospital and those with serious injuries were sent to Kalemyo hospital the same day.

Another fully loaded truck also met with an accident in Tio village on the Indo-Burma border. It was coming from Kalemyo around 5 p.m. local standard time the same day, but all those travelling in the truck were safe. Khonumthung News
