Maungdaw, Arakan State: Htun Hla Sein, the Chairman of the Union Solidarity Development  party (USDP), Maungdaw has handed over nomination papers to an Arakanese Rohingya, Jangir Alam, said an elder in Maungdaw.

The nomination papers were sent from Naypaydaw through the USDP office of Maungdaw, the elder added.

Moreover, the USDP office from Maungdaw has chosen some Arakanese Rohingya from Maungdaw for the forthcoming election. They are -  from Maungdaw, Dr. Kamal ( Hla Myint), Dr. Zahir, Nurul Amin (Lawyer), Aman Ullah ( sothern Maungdaw) and Muhid Ullah ( sorthern Maungdaw).

Other Arakanese Rohingya from Buthidaung are - Dr.Bashir, Azad, and Haresh.

The nominated are going to mobilize the Arakanese Rohingya community in northern Arakan with the delegation from Rangoon having started the proceedings yesterday, said a local elder from Maungdaw.

The groups are now going to hold organizational meetings in villages of Maungdaw and Buthidaung, the elder said.

The authorities postponed such a meeting between the delegation and the nominated persons with other local leaders of Arakanese Rohingya community on May 16 at about 20:00 hours for security reasons, said a community leader in Maungdaw.

On the other hand, the delegation of Arakanese Rohingya from Rangoon with U Phone Swe and other high ranking officers attended a meeting in Maungnama Madrasa of Maungdaw Township at about 10 am today where thousands of Arakanese Rohingya participated, said  the leader.
