Maungdaw, Arakan State:  The State Government High School of Bawli Bazaar in Maungdaw Township will be permitted to hold examinations for Class X for the academic year 2009 as a centre. The permission is from the Educational Ministry, said a one of the teachers of the school.

U Hla Tun, the headmaster of the High School and Township Education officer U Aung Zaw Tun of Maungdaw Township were invited to Naypyidaw recently regarding the examination centre.

Earlier, there was only one examination centre in Maungdaw Town, so many students from rural areas had to go to the town for the final examinations and faced many kinds of difficulties after arriving, said a parent of a student.

There are over 1000 students including boys and girls. The school is famous in the area because of its discipline, its quality education and sincere teachers.

Some of the parents of students feel that this year the results of the school would not be so good because of lack of experience. They are optimistic that the result of the students would be better in the future.

One of the parents of a student said, “This year, our sons and daughters will sit for the exam in our local area, so we will spend less.”

This is the first time that the Ministry of Education has given permission to set up an examination centre in Maungdaw north. Local people want to have another examination centre in Maungdaw south, said a former teacher in town.
