Ukhiya, Bangladesh: More than 27 unregistered Arakanese Rohingya refugees from the Kutupalong makeshift camp were arrested yesterday by the Ukhiya police, while they were returning to the camp from Cox’s Bazar after work, according to a refugee committee member.

They were handed over to the BDR and pushed back last night at about 10:30 pm through the transit point of Balukhali.

Some of them have been identified as Gura Meah, son of Abdul Zabbar, Md. Younus, son of Abul Kasim, Abdul Sukkur, son of Noor Mohamed among others from the Kutupalong unregistered refugee camp, which is situated near the UNHCR official camp.

Meanwhile, police from different locations on the Bangladesh-Burma border, raided and arrested 44 Arakanese Rohingya citizens on October 14, according to local people based near the border.

The sources said separate teams of police personnel held the Arakanese Rohingyas from Alikadam, Balaghata, Sualok, Raicha and Kaistali areas.

On other hand, a police team from Lama police station of Bandarban hill district raided Eyangcha and Fashiakhali villages, under the Lama Upazila and arrested 11 more Arakanese Rohingya last night, who were living there for a long time.

Local people from the border area said even after receiving the Arakanese Rohingyas from the Bangladeshi authorities, the Nasaka again forced them to leave Burma and enter Bangladesh.

About 154 Arakanese Rohingyas were pushed back into Burma over the last two weeks, through the Naikhongchhari border, BDR sources said.

The Arakanese Rohingyas, who were pushed back to their homeland, were compelled to enter Bangladesh again, as the Burmese border security force forced them to illegally enter Bangladesh.
