Bandarban, Bangladesh: Burma's envoy to Dhaka U Phae Thann Oo visited Bandarban, one of the Chittagong Hill tracts yesterday to see Buddhist minority community, according to local people from Bandarban.

The envoy accompanied by honorable consulate General Hakim Ali, Monowara Hakim, and Shadad Hussain from Hotel Agarabat of Chittagong.

The envoy paid obeisance to the monks of monastery and the resident of Bongman palace.

The envoy explained to reporters about the situation of between Burma and Bangladesh especially regarding the dispute of oil and gas exploration in Bangladesh. He also told that there was misunderstanding recently between two countries regarding the oil and gas exploration during his one-day visit to Bandarban.

"There is good relation between two countries. But, misunderstandings developed between the two countries over gas and oil exploration in the Bay of Bengal due to communication gap which will be resolved through discussion, " the envoy more added. He more told that both sides will have bilateral talks in January 2009 over maritime delimitation.

"The deployment of forces either side of the borders, neither Burma nor Bangladesh did have any aggressive intent. Alert on the borders is a normal incident," the envoy added.

The envoy also believes that there will be a settlement after discussion between two countries in future and then armed forces will be withdrawn from both sides of the borders. He more added that two countries (Burma and Bangladesh) don't want war against each other. 

Now the situation in the border areas is safe and peaceful. If both countries don't withdraw their troops it does not matter but we need troops from Bangladesh to stay on the border for our safety as Burmese troops always disturb us on the border, said  another  local from Bandarban.
