Rathedaung, Arakan State: Two brothers were murdered at a shrimp dam by unidentified persons in Rathedaung Township on September 3. The duo was keeping a watch on the shrimp dam at night, said a relative of the victims.
The brothers were identified as Abdu Suban (39), son of Abdu Rohim and his younger brother Sadek Osman (21) of Done Pike village in Rathedaung Township. The village is situated on the bank of Mayu River which flows from north to south across Buthidaung and Rathedaung Townships.
On September 4, a section of police personnel from the Rathedaung Township went to the village and arrested Noor Sobi (40) and his family members including his wife along with three others, hailing from the same village. They had an old enmity with the two brothers.
The arrested were taken to the police station in Rathedaung Town for further interrogation, said a village elder on condition of anonymity.
The bodies were sent to Rathedaung town for autopsy on September 4, The following day the dead were buried in the village graveyard.
Villagers are apprehensive of more arrests in connexion with the murder of the two brothers.
