Maungdaw, Arakan State : Nasaka , Burma 's border security force looted a large sum of money from a trader while he was on his way home from Maungdaw Town after selling goods, on August 8, said a relative of the victim.
The trader was identified as Hussain Ahmed ( 55), son of Salay Ahmed, a trader from Naribill (Kyauk Pyin Seik) under the Nasaka area No. 6 in Maungdaw Township .
The trader was arrest by Nasaka of Naribill out post while he was returning home from Maundaw Town . On being tipped off, a section of Nasaka waylaid him in Maung Nama village, which is in the middle of Maungdaw. He was arrested with kyat 3 million without any reason and was brought to the camp.
However, in the evening, he was released after they took away 2.7 million Kyat of the 3 million Kyat he was carrying from Maungdaw.
The victim has kept silent regarding the matter afraid of reprisal from Nasaka, according to another relative of the victim.
One of the traders from Maungdaw town said, "We are afraid of carrying money from one place to another as there is no security for those of the Rohingya community."
Nasaka, Sarapa (Military Intelligence or Nasaka Intelligence), Township police and District police have stepped up their harassment and have been extorting money from the Rohingya community on false and fabricated cases since the beginning of this year, said a village elder.
