Teknaf, Bangladesh:  The Customs in Teknaf seized contraband at Teknaf Land port on June 11, at about 10:30 p.m. when goods, were being unloaded, according to our correspondent.

Teknaf, Bangladesh:  The Customs in Teknaf seized contraband at Teknaf Land port on June 11, at about 10:30 p.m. when goods, were being unloaded, according to our correspondent.

On being tipped off, Bangladesh Rifles (BDR), Bangladesh 's border security force, and customs from Teknaf jointly searched the exported goods at the port and found saccharin inside packets of dried fish. 

They seized 3,330 kg of dried fish and 770 kg of saccharin inside the bags of dried fish.

According to custom superintendent Md. Anwar they checked the dried fish bags imported from Burma and found saccharin hidden in the fish bags. They seized contraband goods worth Taka 10 million so far within this month.

A fish trader in Teknaf on condition of anonymity said "Some greedy traders are into such business as they want to become rich quickly." 

On June 12, a case was filed by custom inspector Nurul Alam at the Teknaf police station against Mazarul Hussain (dried fish trader) and three other importers said a source in Teknaf police station.

Besides, on June 13, the BDR also seized 9,000 strips of birth control pills worth Taka 300,000 which was being smuggled to Burma from the Bangladesh-Burma border, a source in the BDR said.
