Paris, France: The Burmese military junta has come in for condemnation from the National Democratic Party for Human Rights (NDPHR-in exile) in Paris yesterday for the arbitrary arrest of the Chairman of Myanmar Muslims Council (MMC) U Than Tun, his team members and other respected Muslim leaders on March 29 and April 2 in Maungdaw Township, Arakan  State, according to a press release.

The release said the motive of the military authorities is clear. It wants to paralyze the Muslim society and pose a threat to the population who are preparing to cast a "NO- VOTE" for the unilaterally drafted fake constitution during the referendum. On the other hand, the military agents are persuading the people with the help of members of the Village Peace and Development Council (VPDC) with false information and false hope.

It also said that they would like to convey their message to the people of Rakhine( Arakan) state to stay steadfast in their determination to oppose the cunning-strategy of the junta by voting "NO" during the referendum on the illegally drafted constitution by the military regime.

The statement called upon the SPDC to release the innocent persons immediately and to stop such lawlessness against the peace loving people of Burma .

It added that they would like to call upon the international community to raise concern and intensify the pressure to release the innocent.
