UNDP extends works in 15-more villages in Maungdaw Township
Maungdaw Town : The United Nations Development Programs (UNDP) extended its development work to 15 more villages in Maungdaw Township as of March 11. The works are related to education, health and social and economic development, according to close aide of the UNDP.

The UNDP has undertaken development works in 73 villages in Rathedaung, Buthidaung and Maungdaw Townships in Arakan State . It is especially involved in supplying sanitary services in the rural areas to prevent diarrhea, malaria and dysentery and other water borne diseases. It digs ponds in villages for clean drinking water. It also constructs roads for easy communication and dams for summer paddy cultivation in rural areas.
It extended its development work in 10 villagers nearby Bali Bazaar village tracts, the other five villages are near Ngan Chaung village in Maungdaw Township .
On March 22, it formed a committee comprising eight members in every village, and discussed with them how to develop the village, said a village elder who participated in the meeting.
Most of the officers of the UNDP are United Solidarity and Development Association (USDA) members, Swan Arr Shin members and retired military officers and other pro-junta activists, but local workers are mostly Rohingyas and Rakhines, said a government servant in Maungdaw Town .
