The Burmese UMS Mahar Thihathura naval warship arrived in the Chittagong port on June 7. The warship was on a four-day goodwill visit to Bangladesh, according to a press release from the naval office.
The visit that came after an invitation by the Bangladesh Navy was the first time a Burmese warship entered a Bangladeshi harbor.
Bangladesh Navy officers led by Captain Golam Sadek, chief staff officer for the Commodore Commanding Chittagong, were on hand to warmly welcome the Burmese crew that consisted of 121 personnel and 15 high ranking officers.
During the visit, the Burmese naval officers were given a tour of Bangladeshi Navy ships and facilities, and also took part in games and cultural programs.
Bangladesh, which shares a border with Burma, wants to improve relations between the 2 countries opening up more trade.
UMS Mahar Thihathura is scheduled to leave Bangladesh on June 11.
