Nasaka (Burma border security force) arrested 7 Rohingya villagers, all from Udaung village in Maungdaw Township, over allegations of being involved in the murder of other Rohingya and Burman villagers on March 1, according to a businessman from Alay Than Kyaw. Two suspects were arrested in the village and the other five were arrested while working in their paddy fields on March 4, according to one of the victim’s relatives.
The relative said that all the suspects were severely tortured while in custody. Five people were recently released after they paid bribes. They are receiving treatment for their injuries in their village. At the time of the press the remaining 2 suspects are still in custody waiting for their relatives to arrive at the Nasaka camp.
The 7 people arrested have been identified as: Yakub, 45; son of Erashed, Ataullah, 25, son of Yasin, Monu Meah, 60, Esa Ali, Md. Younus, 20; son of Kalu, Abdul Kader , 45; son of Kala Meah, Mohamed Siddik, 50, son of Kala and Sayedullah, son of Ahar Zaman.
