Nine Rohingyas were arrested by Nasaka (Burma’s border security force). Four were arrested on allegations of taking part in the sectarian violence in Maungdaw Township in June. The other 5 were arrested because security officers claimed their relatives illegally left for Malaysia. Everyone was released after paying hefty bribes.

Since the fighting broke out, Muslims have had their movement restricted and fallen prey to ongoing harassment by Nasaka. They received very little in the form of aid from NGOs despite the fact they constitute the majority of 100,000, or more, displaced from the violence - according to UN figures.
