Nasaka security forces from Pahlapa camp near Maung Ni in Arakan State have been extorting money from Rohingya villagers, according one student who didn’t want his name used.
“Aung Myint Soe, who is an officer from Pahalapa camp and using the name and power of Director, abuses his power to extort money from villagers after charging them with fake allegations.”
The Nasaka director allegedly summoned 3 Rohingya villagers and accused them of using illegal mobiles with Bangladeshi SIM cards. He demanded they pay a bribe. But security officers not only use Bangladeshi phone numbers, they also rent them to some Rohingya, according to one Business man who didn’t want his name used.
