Nasaka (Burma’s border security force) arrested four villagers in Maungdaw south in Arakan State over allegations they had Bangladeshi mobiles, according to a local who spoke on condition of anonymity.
“They were released the same day after taking (a bribe) Kyat 100,000 (US $117.57) from each person,” said the local.
The suspects who were arrested by Captain Aung Kyaw in the evening have been identified as; Abdullah, son of Noor Mohamed, Maulvi Sona Ullah, son of Ahmedu, Kefayat Ullah, son of Ullah Meah, and Karim Ullah. All of them are from Aley Than Kyaw village.
According to one source who was on the scene at the time of the arrests the Nasaka officers didn’t find Bangladeshi mobile phones on the suspects but they arrested them anyway.
