Authorities seize 4,846 yaba tablets in Chittagong and Teknaf

Chittagong, Bangladesh: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) officers arrested two drug peddlers with a total of 850 yaba methamphetamine tablets from Sitakunda Upazila of Chittagong on December 26. Additionally, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel seized 3,996 yaba pills from a rowboat in the Naff River, according to official sources.



“The drugs peddlers in Chittagong are Md. Ibrahim, 34, son of late Shafi Sawdagar, and Md. Rezaul Karim, 32, son of Md. Islam.”



Upon being tipped off, a team from RAB-7 conducted the drive in the Bata Foam Industries area of Dakkhin Inamnagar in Upazila on December 26 at around 6:45 pm and nabbed the drugs peddlers with the illicit pills, according to an RAB press release.



On December 27, 

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized 3,996 yaba pills from a rowboat that entered Zalia Para under Teknaf Police Station from the Naff River while BGB personnel were patrolling along the Bangladesh-Burma border. Nobody was arrested during the operation, according to BGB official sources.



In addition, the BGB forced 18 Rohingya back to Burma who were arrested from Dum Dum Meah, under the Teknaf Police Station, on December 27 while they were attempting to enter Bangladesh.
