Teknaf, Bangladesh: Eleven Rohingya were arrested and pushed back to Burma by the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on October 29, said a local from Teknaf.
“They were arrested by the BGB at the entry point of Shapuri Dip at 10 pm in a raid, while they were entering Bangladesh.”
According to sources, the group crossed the Burma-Bangladesh border to see their relatives in the nearby refugee camps.
Among the arrestees were six males, a woman, and four children. The group was traveling in a rowboat, a source said.
Shabuddin, the Company Commander of the BGB outpost from Shapuri Dip, confirmed that the Rohingya were sent back to Burma.
In a separate situation, BGB from the Whykong check-post arrested a Bangladeshi with over 34 boxes of Priton tablets on October 29, which he had smuggled to Bangladesh from Burma, according to an official.
The smuggler was identified as Md. Delwar Hossain, age 28, of Whykon area under the Teknaf Police Station.
