Teknaf, Bangladesh: A  group of Yaba  smugglers led by a Burmese nation with other three were arrested with 1,300 Yaba tablets by CID (Criminal Investigation Department) police of Dhaka on October 5, at about 9:30 pm. They also seized 210 Phensidar bottles, said a local trader from Teknaf preferring not to be named for security reason.

“On being informed, a group of CID police from Dhaka Mohanagar rushed to   Mogh Bazar Station and recovered 1,300 Yaba tablets, 210 Phensidar bottles and arrested four Yaba peddlers. The CID police also seized Taka 31,500 from the arrestees.”

“The arrestees are identified as Zakir Hussain ,36, from Teknaf, a Burmese National, Zahirul Islam(48), hailed from Chatkaniya union of Chittagong, Mamon (32), hailed from south Kerani Gonj village, and Ismail Hussain (32), hailed from Gul Bark area of  Dhaka Mali Bark.”

The CID police seized 1,000 Yaba tablets from Zaker Hussain, 200 tablets were found in the pocket of Zahirul Islam and 100 tablets were found from pocket of Mamon. According to their statements, the police also seized 210 Phensidar bottles from a CNG driver of Dhaka Mali Bark area, the trader more added. 

This operation was being conducted by the police commissioner Mosiur Rahaman of special intelligent department of illegal narcotic drugs driving committee of Dhaka.

Burmese Jakir Hussain has been doing this business since long.  He carries tablets from Teknaf to Dhaka and sells it as whole seller. A case was filed with Ramna Thana of Dhaka against them according to the Act of Narcotic matter, said one of the relatives of the arrestees.

Besides, on October 6, two smugglers were arrested with Yaba worth about Taka ten million by Ukhiya police from the Teknaf-Cox’s Bazar high way near Cout Bazar. They are; Mohamed Yunus (26), and Noor Mohamed (30). Both belong to Raza Palong Union of Cox’s Bazar district, said a local from Ukiya.  

The BGB( Border Guard Bangladesh) personnel of Dom Dom Meah check- post of Teknaf did not arrest the female and car drivers of Yaba smugglers, but they only arrest the male smugglers. So, Yaba tablets are being smuggled to Cox’s Bazar, Chittagong and Dhaka from Burma Bangladesh border through female. Local people aware of the effect of Yaba tablets and know that students and youths are being destroyed in Bangladesh for the cause of Yaba of Burma. Therefore, the local people want to stop the Yaba smuggling from Burma with the cooperation of local people and the authorities of both sides of the countries, said a local elder from Teknaf who denied to be named.
