Ukhiya, Bangladesh: An unregistered Rohingya refugee from Kutupalong has died after being beaten and robbed by locals on March 7, said a refugee from the camp.

Sukkur, 35, went to the area of Rokpoti Para Village in Sona Para from the Kutupalong makeshift camp to work for his family members’ survival.

After finishing his work, he was returning to the camp when he met three locals. He was severally beaten up and had his money stolen by the locals.

After being beaten, Sukkur was not able to walk. He informed his wife over the phone that he was bleeding from his throat. After hearing this information, his wife went to Sukkur’s location and brought him to the makeshift camp by bus.

Later, he was admitted to an MSF clinic. He was given good treatment by the MSF, said another refugee.

However, he was discharged from the MSF clinic. After arriving back at his hut, he died yesterday night at 8:00 p.m.
