The National Democratic Force (NDF) said it knows who destroyed their party sign in Kachin State, according to People’s Parliament Candidate, Ma Hka.

u-ma-hka-myitkyina-ndfThe NDF is accusing a member of their rival in the November 7th election, the junta backed Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP). The NDF has sent a letter of complaint to the State Election Commission office.

“I have sent the letter to the State Commission office, with copies to the Union Election Commission (UEC), in Naypyitaw, and also sent it to the division and township offices, and to the USDP Township Office, in Myitkyina,” said Ma Hka.

Two USDP organizers, Hla Myint and Zaw Min Htun, took away two NDF signs from Nawng Nang Village, 10 miles from Myitkyina, the Capital of Kachin State.

“Nawng Nang, Divisional Chief of Dai Lum was there when they took the sign, but he didn’t say anything or prevent it,” Ma Hka said.

He said the NDF party does not have much funding, so it uses pamphlets and signs in Kachin State to get its message out to the public before Election Day. However, 10 party signboards of about 60 have disappeared and some have been torn apart.

Ma Hka is running for the seat in the people’s parliament for Myitkyina. The USDP’s candidate, Thein Zaw, former Post, Communication and Telegraph Minister of the junta, as well as National Unity Party (NUP) candidate Lanan Bawk, and Shan Nationals Democratic Party (SNDP) candidate, Sai Kyaw Oo (gong kwe),are also running.

The 27 years old lawyer, Ma Hka, was born in Muse Township, in Shan State, and graduated from Myitkyina University. He has been working as Joint Secretary for the Kachin Literature and Culture (JLH) magazine.
