A primary school girl was raped and killed on November 9 Sunday in Myitkyina, the capital of Kachin State but the police are yet to find the rapist. Police investigation remains tardy, a source said.
The minor girl was eight years old and studying at No. (16) State Basic Education Primary School (SBEPS) in Ayezaydi quarter, according to a school teacher from No. (16), SBEPS.
The incident occurred when the school girl, accompanied by her friends went to find some firewood outside her home in Rampu quarter, said a resident from Rampu.
The police tried to track the rapist on the day of the incident but they have been unable to find him till now, said a school teacher.
"The reason behind the police investigation being slow could be because the victim's parents are poor and can't afford to pay to investigate the crime," she added.
Meanwhile, primary school teachers in Myitkyina have been ordered to look after their schools kids closely by the township education head because such incidents were happening almost throughout the country, according to a primary school teacher.
