Abnormal weather changes in northern Burma is affecting children between the ages of two to five who are falling ill in Myitkyina, the capital of Kachin State, a source said.
The children are mostly suffering from diseases like asthma, Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) and Malaria because of the hot and humid conditions and heavy rains, said a resident in Myitkyina.
"Children from the village outside the town are mostly suffering from diseases, so much so that now not many children can be seen in junior and nursery schools," a resident told KNG.
The children are unable to cope with the changing weather and falling ill, she added.
Residents said that the government's attitude was apathetic and there has been no response from local authorities so far to treat and check the spread of such diseases, a resident added.
Since early monsoons residents have been suffering from diseases and the General Hospital in Myitkyina has been full of patients.
