The celebration has been organised by the Royal Project this evening at the Kachin traditional (Manau) compound in a Kachin village called Ban Mai Samakee, Chiang Dao District in Chiang Mai Province, said one of the leader's of Ban Mai Samakee.

"During the ceremony, we will be lighting the candle in honour of Her Majesty and the participants will include officials from the Royal Project, Kachin, Lahu, Wa and Ahka hill tribes in Thailand," a leader told KNG this morning.

"We are also cleaning the village to mark Her Majesty Sirikit's birthday while others are doing the same," he added.

According to a village leader, Ban Mai Samakee village was officially recognized on February 13, 1984 after Her Majesty the Queen visited the village in 1992, since then there have been some development in the village.

"By the Grace of Her Majesty the Queen, we get enough water after she undertook the visit.  Training is provided once a year to the villagers to develop agricultural programmes as part of their livelihood," a leader said.
