Troops from Government armed force group, Light Infantry Division No. 88, stole valuable jewelry from a Kachin woman.
Government soldiers stole a gold ring and gold chain necklace from a 40-year old woman at gunpoint on Oct.21. Witnesses told the KNG the theft that occurred at about 8 p.m. happened in Kahtan Yang village on the road to Hpakant.
Since the previous week, troops from LID No. 88 have been harassing people in the area, according to locals.
The entire population of Nam Si In fled to Kamaing village after troops entered the village on Oct.19. The government soldiers tied up most of the men and interrogated them about their alleged ties to the Kachin Independence Organization (KIO), according to witnesses who spoke to the Kachin News Group.
At least 170 internally displaced people (IDPs) from Nam Si In are now taking shelter at the Baptist Church in Kamaing.
Fighting between LID No. 88 troops and Kachin resistance forces broke out along the road between Kamaing and Gauri between Hpakant and Myitkyina, on Oct.23. Dozens of civilians who fled their homes have made their way towards Gauri.
