Thieves broke into a government hospital at Three Pagoda Pass (TPP) Town, Karen State after midnight yesterday.
Three thieves looted about 4,000 Kyat and one ring from relatives of a patient at 1:15 am. The patient was from quarter No-4, TPP town.
According to a TPP resident, one of the thieves came into the patient's room and the other went up to the hospital staffs' room. The whole town came to know about the incident.
Residents said that the thieves tried to rob the patients while the staff was asleep. They even tried to steal from the staff but could not.
According to a relative close to a gold shop, one of the thieves went to sell the ring at the shop at 6:30 am. The gold shop owner recognized the ring because it was bought from him. To buy time the owner showed the thief a measuring ring.
The relative said that the thief ran away from the shop when he realized what the gold shop owner was doing.
People in the market tried to catch him. He was a Mon, said the relative.
The patient's relative also lodged a complaint at the police station. However, there was no response from the hospital. Residents are allowed to go into the hospital at TPP.
This is not the first time that thieves have broken into the hospital.
According to a TPP resident, a computer shop in the town was robbed of gold and money.
