Students who passed grade XI on June 21 will have to sit for their entrance examinations to the Universities.

According to a high school headmistress, this is meant only for students who will attend professional courses in the Universities. These students will not be studying other subjects in the Universities.

Students who attend the University of Agriculture and University of Forestry at Yezin a few miles north and east of Pyinmana, Mandalay Division will sit for the tests in Naypyidaw, the new capital, the headmistress said.

They will be interviewed in Naypyidaw again if they pass the test, she added. The statement on the examinations was released last month.

The headmistress said "They have to tackle subjects for their entrance such as English, Mathematics, and Biology.

However it depends on the Universities". She said that they, authorities are trying to make it difficult for students from lower standards so that cannot easily attend professional courses in Universities. However the authorities want to give opportunities to people who are close to them.

Grade XI students have to take private tuition and stay in private boarding-houses to get high marks in the examinations so as to get into professional courses in Universities such as Medicine, Technology, Agriculture, and Forestry.
