For the first time Mon migrant workers in South Korea celebrated Mon National Day yesterday, said Nai Balai from the Seoul who attended the celebrations.

For the first time Mon migrant workers in South Korea celebrated Mon National Day yesterday, said Nai Balai from the Seoul who attended the celebrations.

Over 100 Mons including Burmese migrant workers attended the celebration in a Korean monastery called Thumma Duta in Pupyong Township , in capital Seoul said Nai Balai. 

“We are very happy to celebrate our National Day and it has concluded successfully. Next year we will celebrate in a better way,” he said.

“We believe as Mons we must celebrate our National Day wherever we are or whatever our salutation is,” he said.

About 200 Mons are in Korea and most of them are working in the factories. Last year they established a Mon Organization in South Korea aimed especially to support Mon people inside Burma and to celebrate Mon National Day in South Korea , he added.
