Four Burmese migrant workers were murdered and a boy was seriously injured by an unidentified Thai gang in southern Thailand on Monday night said Ko Tin Htun Aung of the Federation of Trade Unions-Burma (FTUB). The boy is now being treated in Surat Thani hospital, he added.

The bodies of two couples including a pregnant woman were found in a rubber plantation in Chaiya Township , said Ko Win, a friend of the victims.

According to Ko Win, the victims were at home but were taken away by a group of Thais to the rubber plantation.

When the killers shot the two couples the boy ran away, said Ko Win. They were working at the rubber plantation for about 10 years and all of them are from Mon state, added Ko Win.

According to Ko Tin Htun Aung, the killers are absconding and the police are still investigating. He and a lawyer are going to meet the district police tomorrow, he said.

Burmese migrant workers are often attacked, robbed and killed by Thai gangs. Two Burma ethnic Mon migrants were robbed just last month.
