Salai Kyaw Moe Tun — Of the total seven townships won by the National League for Democracy (NLD) in Chin State, a trash pickup campaign has yet to take place in Htantalan, Paletwa, and Mindat townships.
Elected MPs from the NLD have carried out trash cleanup activities across the country including in Chin state's Hakha, Matupi, Falam, and Kanpetlet townships. Starting from December 12, the NLD’s executives led the cleanup activity in Chin State and were joined by local residents and students.
“We have started picking up the trash since Saturday [December 12]. We have finished in Falam, Mindat, and Matupi towns. The NLD led [the activity] and the local residents also picked up [the trash]. Hundreds of people picked up the trash. The municipal vehicles collected the trash. Around 300 people picked up the trash in each town,” said the NLD’s Chin State chairman U Zo Bwai of the Chin State.
During a meeting between the NLD’s chairperson Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and the elected NLD MPs on November 28, the party leader instructed the MPs to pick up the trash in respective townships where they have won, according to the NLD’s elected MPs.
