San Maung Than — The election has been taking place across the country since 6 am today and voters have expressed positive feelings about the voting process.
“I’m coming to vote for the stability of our country. I feel satisfied as there is freedom to vote,” said Daw Ngwe Aye, an 87-year-old woman.
Candidates have been inspecting the polling stations and very satisfied with the voting situation so far.
“West Sanpya Polling Station is in constituency. As we have the duty to inspect whether the people from this station are systematic and work systematically, we have come to inspect the polling station,” said U Aung Than Tun; a candidate with National Unity Party contesting Constituency No 2.
He said he has found voting is going according to plan and satisfied with everything since arriving at the polling station.
A student attending the Rangoon University said by voting she is fulfilling her duty as a citizen.
So far there haven’t been any disturbances reported in Sittwe.
