Junta Airstrike Kills 17 in Village in Tamu District

On Sunday at 10 am, a regime jet fighter mercilessly bombed a civilian settlement, murdering 17 people, including 6 children, when the plane conducted two bombing missions on the village in Sagaing Region.

“They dropped a bomb on a school, killing two children on the spot who were playing football (nearby). The second bomb hit many people who were attending church,” a local man from Kanan, where the attack took place, told Khonumthung News. Over 30 people were wounded by the bombings.

The jet fighter dropped its second payload on people who had spilled out of the Baptist church after the first attack, another local source explained.

All of the deceased were cremated that same night during a solemn mass cremation, he said. After the tragedy they have been forced to endure, the man said, “the villagers are overwhelmed with anguish.”

The Chin village is located on the Kalay – Tamu road near Khampat town in Tamu District and is controlled by resistance forces.
