Development Media Group

Development Media Group

Development Media Group (DMG) was founded on the Thai-Myanmar border on 9 January 2012, in accordance with the current requirements of Arakan (Rakhine) State, by both residents inside the country, and former residents now in exile, who see value in meaningful quality media and applying news media as a powerful resource for regional stability, peace-making, and holistic and sustainable development.

Furthermore, the Development News Bulletin (from January to March 2012) continuing as the Development Newsletter (from April to June 2012) were published monthly in the city of Mae Sot on the Thai-Myanmar border. In that same year, the publications continued as the Development News Journal, which was released monthly, both inside and outside Myanmar, until December 2013.

In December 2014, the journal was officially registered in Myanmar and, twice a month published both internally and externally, from our bases in Yangon and Sittwe, up to September 2016. However, the publication was suspended due to financial difficulties in October 2016.

Our efforts were then concentrated on the DTV News Television programme beginning in January 2017. We then started republishing the Development News Journal in March 2018 and in July 2019, we temporarily suspended publication of the journal due to the delay of issuing the publishing license by the Patent Rights and Registration Branch from the Department of Information and Public Relations under the Ministry of Information.
